WTF does wellness even begin to mean to you?
Wellness is awareness. wellness is being well rested, wellness is exercising, wellness is having a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water. Wellness is understanding your triggers, wellness is not beating yourself up when you're triggered, wellness is allowing yourself to have an off day. Wellness is holding yourself accountable.
What is your wellness routine?
The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning read a scripture from my bible app. I like to be spiritually grounded. Then I meditate for 20-30 mins. I like to visualize my future, including the day I plan to have ahead. After that I check my email to make sure I haven't missed anything pressing. When all immediate notes are addressed I typically do two to three morning calls/zooms. I work out for at least an hour everyday. That's a huge part of my wellness routine. After working out I dive back into calls and emails for a few more hours. I try to have a hard cut off to allow for decompression and leisure. I always carve out time for an evening meditation to make myself aware of the day.
"I work out for at least an hour everyday. That's a huge part of my wellness routine."
What are your thoughts on mental health and how that plays into wellness?
Mental health is the most important aspect of wellness. I like to think of my brain as a muscle and in kind try to exercise it as often as possible through mediation and focusing on the positive as opposed to worrying. I also subscribe to the thought that our brains cannot tell the difference between the focusing on visions of the future and a memory of the past. Therefore, I like to project images of my desired future self. Taking the time to write down my intentions, beliefs, affirmations, goals and feelings also play a pivotal role in my mental well being.
How do you want to better the Wellness Industry?
Our mission is to create awareness about the benefits of CBD and create a space for BIPOC in the CBD industry. We plan to donate a portion of our earning to cannabis imprisonment and reform efforts. NFZD beauty is one of many new African American owned CBD businesses in the industry and that makes us proud. We know that there is room for us all to succeed
